Lapitec is a type of sintered stone. To make it, only the top ceramic materials are used and then bonded together using hot temperatures and lots of pressure.
This method is referred to as Metamorphosis, and is the recreation of a natural process, and results in a product like that has never been seen before. The stone is 100% mineral and no resin or hydrocarbon-based binder components are incorporated.
Lapitec is non-porous, so it does not absorb whatever you spill on it (which is how lots of those horrible stains come about!). With most stones, you need to wipe up your wine spills straight away, but you won't be scrubbing for hours with lapitec.
The stone uses Biotech technology, which is designed to tackle bacteria and create an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal surface. Essentially, micro-organisms decompose safely in the surface, so all you need to do is to use soap and water and wash them away. Cleaning your lapitec worktop is very simple. No sealing is required.
It's also a very green ‘Eco-friendly’ product, as no petroleum type substances are used to make it. It is totally inert and will release absolutely no substances into the atmosphere. Many natural stones, such as granite, contain radioactive material. Although not serious, it does mean a small amount of radon gas is admitted, however, you do not have to worry about this with lapitec. If you decided to remove your lapitec heath or flooring at any point, you can easily recycle it as it’s very Eco-friendly.
For many reasons, lapitec is perfect for kitchens where a high-standard of cleanliness is required, in restaurants or bars for example, or in your own home, especially if you have children who have no qualms about eating spilt cake mix directly off the worktop.
