Purchasing stone worktops for your home or office is an investment that will give you many years of beautiful service.

Stone products require simple care and maintenance in order to preserve their appearance. Here are some recommendations for routine cleaning and care of kitchen work surfaces:

Keep your kitchen counter tops clean with a damp cloth, remembering to dry off water and soap residue. Surface shine can be maintained by using liquid all-purpose cleaners. However, the secret to cleaning stone worktops is the drying process; the answer is to treat it like glass. Do not use abrasive detergents!

Avoid spilling substances such as oven cleaners, juices, wine, oils, acids (vinegar, lemon juices), paint removers, nail varnish etc. can cause stains as stone is porous  and is sealed during the manufacturing process. If spillage of potentially harmful substances occurs, remove the liquid as soon as possible. This will reduce the chance of any seeping through the seal. If a coat of sealer is applied, be sure that it is non-toxic and safe for use on food preparation surfaces.

Do not chop food on the kitchen worktops. This may scratch the surface. Always use chopping boards.

It is possible to place hot things directly onto stone counter tops, but if you use the same area over a period of time the stone could eventually crystallise and discolour. You may wish to have stainless steel rods or studs inserted into the stone near hobs to use as a hot stand or use trivets or mats under hot dishes.
